Our Town

Described by Edward Albee as “the greatest American play ever written,” Our Town presents the small town of Grover’s Corners in three acts: “Daily Life,” “Love and Marriage” and “Death and Eternity.” Narrated by a stage manager and performed with minimal props and sets, the play depicts the simple daily lives of the Webb and Gibbs families as their children fall in love, marry, and eventually – in one of the most famous scenes in American theatre – die.

Based on the 1980 hit movie, 9 to 5 sets to music the hilarious and outrageous story of friendship and revenge in the 1970s Rolodex era. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she?

Bantam Musical Theatre Workshop

This 5-day intensive on the grounds of the Okoboji Summer Theatre includes daily classes focused on acting, voice work, and movement, culminating in a showcase which the students will perform.
Classes meet daily from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., with a showcase Saturday, July 11. Taught by Okoboji Summer Theatre Guest Artists and Staff, this rigorous program is designed to enhance each student’s skills and allow them to learn about musical theater basics from working professionals in a collaborative, supportive and inspiring environment. Recommended ages 8+

Ticket Overview
OST Box Office Opens June 15
Ticket prices for all mainstage performances are $26 per patron. Tickets will be available soon on Eventbrite.com and the OST Box Office will be open to the public on Monday, June 15.
Mainstage weekly curtain times: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday. There will be no productions on Thursday evenings.
Two-for-one performances: Saturday evening (8 p.m.) (All Ages) and Saturday (4:30) and Sunday (6 p.m.) for senior citizens, ages 65 and older. To reserve tickets before the box office opens June 16, email ticket requests to: boxoffice@okobojisummertheatre.org or purchase full-price tickets online at Eventbrite.com around February 14. The Box Office window and phone lines will be open June 15 for ticketing purchases. Hours may vary. Follow up on Facebook and Instagram for updates.

For Our Students
Okoboji Summer Theatre Company is a summer stock theatre company owned and operated by Stephens College. The robust schedule is designed to help students in Musical Theatre, Acting, Technical Theatre & Stage Management, Theatrical Costume Design, and Interdisciplinary Theatre Studies improve in all aspects of their training, while being immersed in a living and learning environment. Students work side-by-side with nationally recognized guest artists, faculty and mentors.
In addition, students learn the inner workings of running a theater company, including box office and marketing.

Owned and operated by Stephens College, the Okoboji Summer Theatre (OST) company has been a proud member of the Iowa Great Lakes community since 1958. OST has presented more than 550 productions to an audience of 1.5 million over 60+ seasons.
Thousands of young actors, 500+ professional faculty, and 2000+ guest artists have dedicated every waking moment to pulling off each production, accounting for over 40,000 exhausting — but rewarding — hours of rehearsals.
At OST, Conservatory for the Performing Arts students work alongside these professionals and guest artists from across the country to produce multiple mainstage productions which include musicals, comedies, and dramas. This extensive schedule provides significant and diverse performance and backstage opportunities.
