About Karina Floyd
Dr. Karina Floyd brings nearly two decades of nursing experience across clinical and academic settings, with a passion for inclusive leadership and transformative education. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN, 2014) and earned her PhD in Nursing in 2020. Her doctoral research, Empowering Minority Nurses in the Face of Incivility and Bullying: Through the Lens of Phenomenology, reflects her enduring commitment to equity, voice, and resilience within the nursing profession.
Dr. Floyd has 10 years of experience caring for pediatric populations, and an additional seven years serving adult patients. Prior to coming to Stephens, she was at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital providing expert care in both Transitional Care and Neonatal Intensive Care Units. Her work centers on supporting medically complex infants and children through multidisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based practice.
In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Floyd has served in faculty and administrative roles in nursing education, leading curriculum development and fostering student success. She is known for creating dynamic learning environments that prepare nurses for both the emotional and clinical realities of modern healthcare.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Floyd enjoys kayaking and motorcycle riding with her family. She also lives on a small hobby farm, where she cares for animals and finds peace in nature.
