48-Hour Filmmaking Competition

Stephens College Conservatory is hosting its first ever 48-Hour Film Competition.

This event brings together creativity, collaboration, and Columbia’s vibrant film community.


48-Hour Film Competition Information

Begins Friday, November 14 at 7 p.m. via YouTube Live Stream

Deadline to submit is Sunday, November, 16 at 7 p.m.

Free Screening on Monday, November 17; 7p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

48-Hour Film Competition Rules

  • Film Length: 3–5 minutes
  • Time Limit: Films must be written, shot, and edited within the 48-hour window
  • Required Elements: Each film must include the genre, prop, line of dialogue, and character announced at the live launch
  • Launch: Begins Friday, November 14 at 7 PM via YouTube Live Stream
  • Deadline: Films must be submitted to the GoogleDoc folder by Sunday, November 16 at 7 PM SHARP!
  • Screening: Finalist films will premiere at Ragtag Cinema on Monday, November 17, 7–9:30 PM
  • Entry Fee: None (free to participate)
  • Team Size: Open — create with as many or as few friends as you’d like
  • Content Guidelines:
    • Keep it PG-13
    • No gun violence
    • No hateful content
  • Creative Spirit: Remember — it is better to create than to destroy
