About Brian Guidry LeTraunik

Brian Guidry LeTraunik is an actor, director, educator, historian, and fight director. His work has been seen on film, television, and theatres across the country for over forty years. He has served on faculty at numerous universities, including Coker University, Lamar University, SUNY Cortland, Drake University, and Eastern Illinois University. Favorite directing credits include Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood for Weathervane Playhouse, Boeing Boeing, The 39 Steps, for Lamar University, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee for Eastern Illinois University, the U.S. Premiere of Tunnel Rat for Genesis Theatricals and the world premiere of Hannukatz, the Musical for National Pastime Theatre. As an actor, favorite roles include Man in Chair in The Drowsy Chaperone; Polonius in Hamlet, Shylock in The Merchant of Venice, Prospero in The Tempest; Lafew in All’s Well That Ends Well, Pandarus in Troilus and Cressida; Skylight in Class Enemy; and Dr. Scott in The Rocky Horror Show.

As a Certified Teacher of stage combat with the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD), he has taught and choreographed stage combat from coast to coast, including projects with South Carolina Shakespeare Company, Charleston Stage Company, and Central City Opera, among many others. His book A History of Contemporary Stage Combat, 1969-Today is currently available on Amazon and Routledge.com.

Brian has a BA in Theatre (Acting Concentration) from Columbia College Chicago and a MFA in Acting from Western Illinois University. He is currently a Certified Teacher Candidate with the National Michael Chekhov Association (NMCA), a 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, and a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA.
