About Dr. Scott Taylor
Dr. R. Scott Taylor serves as Associate Vice President for Experiential Learning and Industry Partnerships at Stephens College. In this role, he leads workforce development, experiential learning, and mission-aligned enterprise initiatives while cultivating partnerships that expand opportunities for Stephens students, the College, and the broader community.
Taylor represents Stephens through numerous community, workforce, and industry organizations. His service includes the Columbia Chamber of Commerce Board and its Workforce Development and World of Works committees, the Columbia Regional Economic Development Inc. (REDi) Board, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Business and Marketing Industry Recognition Committee, the International Collegiate DECA Advisory Council, and the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development’s HEALS Advisory Board. He also serves organizations including the Moberly Area Chamber of Commerce and Safe Passage.
Taylor earned a Doctor of Business Administration from California Southern University, where his doctoral research examined the economic impact of entrepreneurial policy. He holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Missouri and a Bachelor of Science in Management from Missouri State University.
Before joining Stephens full time, Taylor served as an adjunct instructor at the College beginning in 2018. He previously taught at Moberly Area Community College, where he served as lead business faculty beginning in 2007. For more than 14 years, he advised MACC’s award-winning Collegiate DECA chapter and has been recognized multiple times as a National Collegiate DECA Advisor of the Year. He also contributes his expertise as a subject matter expert for several educational publishing companies.
Taylor lives on a horse ranch near Moberly with his wife, Kendra. Together, they have supported the Stephens College Equestrian Program through the donation of several horses. Their blended family includes five adult children.
