Prerequisites

The prerequisites for application to the Stephens College Master in Physician Assistant Studies Program for the 2025-2026 application cycle include successful completion of the following prerequisite courses or equivalents:

  • Medical Terminology (1 credit hour)
  • Psychology (3 credit hours or 4 quarter hours)
  • Statistics (3 credit hours or 4 quarter hours)
  • Chemistry I and II (6 credit hours or 8 quarter hours)
  • Organic Chemistry I (3 credit hours or 4 quarter hours) – must be upper-level course for science majors
  • Microbiology (3 credit hours or 4 quarter hours) – must be 200 level or higher course, for science majors
  • Human Anatomy (3 credit hours or 4 quarter hours) – must be 200 level or higher course, for science majors
  • Human Physiology (3 credit hours or 4 quarter hours) – must be 200 level or higher course, for science majors
  • Genetics (3 credit hours or 4 quarter hours) – must be 200 level or higher course, for science majors

Important Prerequisite Notes:

  • All science prerequisite courses must be for science majors; accompanying laboratories are highly recommended and a minimum of two labs are required for the listed courses.
  • All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better. Grades of C- or below are not acceptable.
  • Human Physiology/Anatomy & Physiology I & II must have been completed within the last seven years of the fall application deadline. If not, the courses must be retaken.
  • At the time of application, students may not have more than ONE outstanding prerequisite course.
