Stephens Celebrates the accomplishments of Founding Nursing Director, Dr. Noreen Houck

After five years of visionary leadership, Dr. Noreen Houck is officially retiring from Stephens College—and leaving behind a strong, thriving Nursing program that she helped build from the ground up.
Dr. Houck joined Stephens in July 2019 with a big task: to create a nursing program that not only delivered excellent clinical training, but also reflected the College’s mission and values. With our partners at Boone Health, she did exactly that.
The program proudly celebrated our very first class of Stephens nursing graduates in May 2023.
At a recent campus reception in her honor, Dr. Houck thanked her colleagues and shared her appreciation for the community she’s come to know during her time here.
“I am proud to have started the Nursing Program and designed a program that fits the College’s mission,” she said. “The best part of Stephens College is the dedicated and passionate people she attracts as employees and students. Thank you for welcoming me into the Stephens family.”
While we’re sad to say goodbye, we know the program is in great hands. Dr. Houck officially passed the torch to Dr. Karina Floyd, who began her role as Program Director earlier this month.
“I leave the program in good shape to the next Program Director, Dr. Karina Floyd,” Dr. Houck said. “I am confident the program will continue to flourish.”
We are so grateful for Dr. Houck’s leadership, warmth, and tireless work to make the Stephens Nursing program what it is today. We wish her nothing but the best in her next chapter!
