Stephens College Appoints Kelley Marchbanks as Vice President for Advancement

Stephens College is proud to announce that Kelley Marchbanks will join the College as Vice President for Advancement on September 16, following a national search.

Marchbanks brings more than two decades of advancement leadership, with a distinguished career in philanthropy, higher education, alumni and board relations, non-profit management, and health sciences. She has partnered with globally respected organizations to bring an evidence-based approach to philanthropic support for tackling the world’s greatest challenges.

Her career includes leading every phase of multi-billion-dollar comprehensive campaigns—overseeing principal gift strategies and solicitations, board relations, strategic planning, alumni relations, planned giving, and team management. Known for her expertise in grateful giving, she has cultivated, secured, and stewarded transformational gifts, including a $50 million naming gift from a grateful donor.

Even before officially stepping into her new role, Marchbanks is already building connections for Stephens. While completing her final assignment in Australia in her current position, she has been reaching out to alumnae living there—an early sign of her initiative, enthusiasm, and skill in relationship-building.

A Columbia native, Marchbanks has been deeply involved in the local community through the Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Network, and United Way. She and her husband, Aaron—whom she met while both were active in community theater—share a passion for the arts and for giving back. Their daughter, Lilly, is currently studying museum studies and studio art at Tufts University in Boston.

“Kelley’s depth of experience, proven record of securing transformational gifts, and deep community roots make her the ideal leader to advance Stephens’ mission,” said President Shannon B. Lundeen.

Marchbanks said she is excited to begin her work at Stephens: “Stephens has a bold vision for the future, and I’m honored to help advance that mission by connecting people’s passion with purpose.”
