Business Administration

The business administration degree provides a broad-based view of business that prepares women to become visionary CEOs, VPs and industry leaders after they leave Stephens.
Through hands-on business administration courses and experiences, you’ll learn and apply knowledge in real scenarios — and gain market-ready skills that employers love. Leadership, communication and professional skills are emphasized across the curriculum, which prepares you to be effective and impressive in any job you choose. It’s that edge that others describe as polish and that we know as the practiced confidence that comes with honing your skills among supportive faculty, peers and alumni.
Program Features
This program has evolved with the times and provides extensive flexibility, because we know that innovative business leaders need to layer many interests on top of solid, foundational core.
With four concentrations — entrepreneurship, marketing, management and conference/event planning management — and 35 elective hours, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Stephens can be tailored to your individual interests. Take advantage of online business courses and pursue the aspects of business that most interest you.
Program Structure
The business program at Stephens comprises three parts:
- Broad Liberal Arts (36 credit hours of general education courses)
- Business Core (36 credit hours)
- Specialize in one or more functional areas to develop business expertise (18 credit hours in concentration of choice)
You will also complete 35 elective hours to earn your degree. The business major allows you to choose a minor or second concentration that complements your interests and goals.
Business Core
All business majors will complete the 36-credit hour Business Core.
Courses include accounting, finance management and marketing, business law and ethics, and professional communication.

Entrepreneurship
Solve complex problems with insightful, innovative solutions. Learn to create and manage your own small business.
Gain first-hand experience in all aspects of running a small business as a team member at Susie’s, our student-run campus store.
Conference and Event Planning Management
Combine a strong foundation in business, marketing and communication principles with on-the-ground experience planning real events.
Help manage weddings and more on the beautiful Stephens Campus through SC events.
Management
Learn how to work with people — from human resource management to global markets — and create an effective work environment.
Develop business plans and action plans with budgets, marketing plans and outcomes. Get real-world managerial experience by taking on a role at Susie’s, the campus store completely run by students.
Marketing
Focus on consumer behavior and strategic communication, developing products and services to meet needs and lead businesses to success. Get real-world experience by joining Creative Ink, a full-service marketing firm run by Stephens College Students.
The Agency provides creative services through Creative Ink ad agency, Stephens Life feature magazine, Harbinger literary magazine, and Event and Convention Management.
Get InvolvedPlan and manage real events on the beautiful Stephens campus, from weddings to business conferences, holiday galas, award banquets and more.

Business Administration Minor
The minor in business administration takes an entrepreneurial focus and gives students the foundation to build a business that focuses on their passion. It’s designed to complement many majors in both the School of Health Sciences and the School of Integrative Studies.
